The Witcher star Liam Hemsworth reenacts battle scene (2024)

There were shades of deja-vu about the Devon coastline on Wednesday as Liam Hemsworth filmed scenes for the fourth season ofNetflix show The Witcher.

Hemsworth has the unenviable task of filling popular leading man Henry Cavill's leather riding boots after the musclebound actor confirmed his departure, a decision that is understood to be prompted by creative differences.

But while Cavill's unexpected recasting has been met with scepticism from fans, the show's producers have pulled out all of the stops to ensure Hemsworth's introduction asGeralt of Rivia is as seamless as possible.

And Wednesday's shooting schedule suggested their latest attempt to paper over the cracks included revisiting Cavill's legendary season three fight scenes with feared sorcerer Vilgefortzof Roggeveen.

Geralt was badly wounded by Vilgefortz in a beachfront battle during the assault on Stygga, a scene that appeared to be recreated for a potential season four flashback scene.

Indeed, Hemsworth was joined by Vilgefortz actorMahesh Jadu for a combat scene on a closed off portion of Devon coastline, while his stunt double Joel Adrien waited to be called into action.

It is thought that the scenes could either be a flashback to the moment from earlier in the series or that the new season could open picking up exactly where the last one left off.

Hemsworth was later spotted relaxing on the set of The Witcher in Devon on Wednesday.

The Hollywood star stood with his arms folded and had laid down his prop sword behind him.

He looked somewhat pensive in-between takes in what marked the first time he has been pictured in character.

Hemsworth - who was also in full makeup and wearing a long grey wig - had just been filmed flying through the air and crashing on the sand as part of a duel.

At one point, The Last Song star was seen chatting to a member of the crew and was later scene preparing for battle scenes on the beach,

The actor and his stunt double were seen at various points each getting to grips with a prop sword before flying into scene at full pelt.
